The ideals, values, and laws set down in our Constitution and Bill of Rights are principles that we must protect. Our country cannot endure without them. Times and technology change, but human nature doesn’t. Our forefathers knew this and sought to establish a set of principles that would guide our country through the changes that would inevitably come. Where we have failed, we failed because we departed from those principles.
My goal as a congressman is simple – to take my oath of office seriously, which is “that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I’m about to enter: So help me God.”
To that end, I will support any legislation that preserves the life, liberty, and property of United States citizens and returns power to the States for all duties not specifically enumerated as federal duties. As important, I will actively oppose any legislation that expands the Federal government, limits property rights, limits liberty, or diminishes the value of life. I will remind my fellow elected servants of their duties. I will seek to educate all who will listen across this great country of our history and of the principles set down in our founding documents and why they must be preserved.
