The revolting, vile, and unhinged behavior of leftist protesters and union thugs is escalating. It’s becoming more. More revolting, more vile, more unhinged. These bizarre self-loathing lunatics have crawled out of their dark corners on the far left fringes of decent society, and are doing everything they can to provoke good, decent American patriots. The videos are stomach-turning (you can see many of them over at theblogprof, if you haven’t already), their hatred emanates from their every unintelligible utterance, every disgusting slur, every sleazy threat. These are the people whom we ignored for decades. Lunatic commies, socialists, anti- and unAmerican weirdos who may once have raised an indulgent eyebrow (or prompted an eye roll) are now slithering into the light of day. This escalation is worrying.
They don’t understand what socialism is (with a few high-profile exceptions like Lawrence O’Donnell), they haven’t a clue who or what Nazis were/are (just some vague notion that Nazism is bad), and they couldn’t tell you one tenet of fascism. They have no idea that there is a difference between a republic and a democracy, they are clueless about the difference between patriotism and rabid nationalism (everything’s the same, right, these intellectual giants “think”), and they have no idea what the TEA Party is. We know this because they say the most absurd things, and with a straight face (well, it’s usually kind of distorted by screaming and blind rage). They don’t understand capitalism, they don’t understand liberalism, and they don’t understand conservatism. And that’s just how the leftist puppet masters like it: informed people who are not stoked to within an inch of violence by class and race warfare are not malleable, controllable. Ignorance is key to the success of leftists; deception their lifeblood.
The demonization of us, the lurid lies and truly illogical accusations are gobbled up, internalized, believed with a cult-like fervor and spat back out with a strange combination of an utter lack of self-awareness and a sinister, toxic venom. Leftists are so twisted by hatred, self-loathing, and impotent rage that they’ve convinced themselves that violence is not only desirable but that it’s desirable now, so they are going out of their way to provoke a reaction from normal, hard-working Americans like us. Oddly, the longer we’ve remained peaceful and respectful, the more their hopes are dashed when every violent political act has turned out to be (surprise) a leftist (or just some poor insane person who needs a psychiatrist to sort out his ravings), the more their resentment rises, the more the pressure-cooker of hatred, self-loathing, and impotent rages build up. And it’s looking for an outlet.
It’s good to keep Alinsky’s “rules for radicals” in mind, good because it reminds us that this is all being crafted, it’s not real (however real it may seem to the demonic deranged, it’s not–they’re expendable to the leftist leadership, tools not people, cannon fodder of sorts in their beloved, long-awaited communist revolution). Back in ’09, I wrote a post about Alinksy’s rules and how they played out during and after the ’08 election. Things have escalated alarmingly since then, with many tactics being employed with a definite air of desperation. I won’t quote the whole post, but a few of the Alinsky tactics are worth noting at this time.
We on the right often get frustrated that leftists, be they pols or bloggers or trolls, never address real issues, never want to talk about the problem or (God forbid!) a solution. They only want to lay blame, rehash old debates, make wild accusations about how we got here, and/or change the subject to something else entirely (usually in the form of an ad hominem attack or some of their more bizarre cultish teachings). This is straight out of Alinksy:
RULE 2: “Never go outside the expertise of your people.” It results in confusion, fear and retreat. Feeling secure adds to the backbone of anyone. (Organizations under attack wonder why radicals don’t address the “real” issues. This is why. They avoid things with which they have no knowledge.)
Lefties are secure when they can attack, when they are filled with blind rage (even if they are not quite sure why they are so angry–and if you press them, they won’t be able to tell you in terms that are rooted in fact or logic, it’s always based in wild hyperbole and outlandish accusations that have no basis in reality); confusion comes when they have to talk about actual issues. They simply can’t do more than dredge up either a straw man or an emotional appeal (they’ve been trying to use religion lately, and I find this laughable–being preached to by the godless amuses me no end). They have no evidence that their way works (indeed the historical record shows with crystal clarity that it doesn’t), they have no rhyme or reason for their unrealistic policies (this is why all we hear from the boob in the WH is that “it’s the right thing to do.”).
RULE 10: “If you push a negative hard enough, it will push through and become a positive.” Violence from the other side can win the public to your side because the public sympathizes with the underdog. (Unions used this tactic. Peaceful [albeit loud] demonstrations during the heyday of unions in the early to mid-20th Century incurred management’s wrath, often in the form of violence that eventually brought public sympathy to their side.)
And this is what’s being pushed now. Hard. We’ve already noted that the more the leftists lash out and demonize us, the more our numbers grow. We’re currently the perceived underdog, indies are fleeing this admin and its cultists, but if the rabid leftists keep pushing it and to the point that someone on our side reacts with violence, we immediately, in that second, lose. They know this. Thus the escalation. Imagine the triumphant hoots and high fives the second a TEA Party person becomes violent. Leftists the country over would be jubilant, and we, along with our great nation, would be destroyed. So that can’t happen.
Luckily, we’re quick studies. Look at how effectively we’ve turned the Alinsky tables on the leftists’ “call for civility.”
RULE 4: “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.” If the rule is that every letter gets a reply, send 30,000 letters. You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules. (This is a serious rule. The besieged entity’s very credibility and reputation is at stake, because if activists catch it lying or not living up to its commitments, they can continue to chip away at the damage.)
We did this, daily, holding leftists’ to their own faux standard of civil discourse. Blog after blog, post after post, video after video, we held them to their own standards–my very favorite is the fabulous NiceDeb‘s Left-Wing Institute for Civil Discourse. She rounds up the week’s uncivil bile spewed by leftists and then asks people to vote on the worst: she then announces weekly “winners.” It’s a thing of beauty. And what do you know? The white flag of leftist surrender went up last week, only a few short months after the “civility” muzzle was lobbed at conservatives.
So how do we deal with the unhinged, the attempts to prompt violence from us? Well, we turn the tables on them, that’s how. One of the most inspiring things that I saw this past week was a video someone posted on Facebook (sorry, I can’t remember who posted it). It’s of this amazing group of veterans and patriots called the Patriot Guard Riders. These inspiring men (and women) go to military funerals that are being protested by those horrible leftists in the Westboro Baptist Cult (it’s hardly a church). The Patriot Guard Riders go there and peacefully assemble, holding American flags, and they block the view of the disrespectful, hateful cultists. When the cultists get too loud and can be heard by the grieving families, the Patriot Guard Riders rev their Harleys and drown them out. It’s goose-bump inspiring.
And this is the exact way to respond to the frothing at the mouth unhinged lunatic lefties who protest our rallies. We block their view, we wave our American flags, and raise our voices in songs of patriotism (a rousing rendition of “God Bless America” would be perfect), and we smile pleasantly, unperturbed by their presence. We are confident in ourselves, motivated not by hatred, self-loathing, and impotent rage but by love for our country and for our fellow patriots. If you think about it, they’ve already lost . . . they just don’t know it yet.
