The Real Problem With Regressives: They Live In A Fantasy Future

The most marvelous Daniel Greenfield has written (yet another) stellar piece, The Destruction of Contradiction.  He writes (in part, but do read the rest):

People, countries and ideas are destroyed through their inability to resolve their contradictions. The left gained a foothold in America by exploiting the country’s contradiction between its insistence on moral superiority and the actual way that the sausage got made. The left did not resolve this contradiction, instead it pretended that it had transcended the contradiction because when it made the sausage and broke the omelets, it was doing it for the greater good.

Under the old system, human misery was caused by the pragmatic problems of reality. Under the new system, it was caused by the idealistic necessities of the greater good.

For example, before ObamaCare someone who couldn’t get health insurance was suffering for pragmatic reasons. With the advent of ObamaCare, someone losing their doctors and getting stuck with insurance they couldn’t afford was suffering for the idealism of the greater good.

The contradiction between the aspirations of the ideal and the brutal necessities of the real were not resolved. Instead the left made the suffering of individuals and groups irrelevant.

Read that last part again.  It’s key to understanding the seeming heartlessness we perceive in the regressive, statist, and collectivist (i.e. totalitarian) policies of the radical left where “motive” (i.e. intent) matters more than outcome, where the “ends justify the means.”  We see this clearly in decades of failed leftist policies purportedly designed to help the poor; despite hard evidence that poverty is increasing and the middle class shrinking, the left clings to the welfare state not because it works but because they think it should work.  When you ignore reality (in this case measurable poverty for real people) in favor of unrealistic idealistic dreams of outcomes, you end up with Detroit, not a shining city on a hill.

And leftists do this all the time, on every issue.  In their drive for equality, they ignore the fact that everyone is not the same and that “equality” doesn’t and shouldn’t mean “sameness.”  Instead of allowing for this in their blueprint for the perfection of the human race, they plow ahead, lowering the bar for all in every arena they touch, be that education, law enforcement, or the military.

For example, the purportedly “equality-based” push for women to hold combat positions in the United States military sounds great, right?  Women can do anything a man can do as well as any man can do it.  Except we can’t.  Likewise, men can’t do everything we can do as well as we can do it.  That’s the way it is, that’s reality.  Leftists have no time or patience for facts or reality; they think they can bend both to their will.  So instead of carving out roles in the military that foreground women’s abilities and strengths, that take advantage of our superiority in some areas (face it, women are damned good shots, make excellent pilots, are great at strategy, make great diplomats (as long as they aren’t pretending to be men when they do it), etc.), leftists instead insist on their faulty “equality means everyone is the same as” rubric.  As one female Marine and Iraq veteran notes, “the best woman is still no match for the best man” in combat situations.  That’s just fact.  Indeed, leftists have conceded this very point by lowering physical training standards for women.  That’s not okay, and it’s a clear and obvious threat to our national security, but that doesn’t matter to the radical left.  Only that distant (and impossible) future matters.

Everyone should be the “same,” they think, and if they aren’t, we’ll just change “sameness” . . . and, while we’re at it, we’ll also punish people who’ve been “privileged” (be this because they are born white and male–a shameful thing to regressives–or because they are young and/or healthy).  It’s madness.  They don’t want to redistribute only wealth; they want to redistribute race, heritage, heredity, genetics, values, and a host of other things they have no power or control over.  It doesn’t work, can’t work, but they plow “forward!” working on the principle that destruction and misery are just the temporary but necessary steps toward some sort of fantastical Utopia that they envision as some sort of heaven on earth with our government overlords acting as our beneficent and loving council of gods raining manna down on the unwashed masses from their Olympian perches.

Breaking eggs is just part of the process.  Yes, Obama and his hordes, including House and Senate Dems (and Republicans), knew that millions upon millions would lose not only their health insurance plans but also their doctors.  They knew that Sarah Palin was right about death panels.  They also knew that millions upon millions would lose their jobs or have their hours drastically reduced.  This is built into 0Care.  Logic dictates that you don’t screw up a health insurance system that covered 253.4 million people to accommodate 35-50 million (depending on the estimates) people.  Logic dictates that if you have a government panel meting out treatments, you have not only rationing of care but a handful of people in DC deciding who lives and who dies.  Logic dictates that when you reduce the work week from 40 to 30 hours and make it financially onerous for employers to comply with the 0Care mandates, millions upon millions of people will lose their jobs and/or their health insurance.  But we’re not talking about logic.  Or results, at least not immediate results.  We’re talking about that drive toward a perfected human race living in Utopian harmony in the new Garden of Eden.  And yeah, shrugs the regressive, radical leftist, a bunch of people will suffer, even die.  That can’t be helped because some distant, fantasy future is the end goal (and yes, they actually do believe it’s achievable, but they also know that the only people living the new American dream will be the tiny segment of the population who do not live in abject poverty.  They are okay with that.).

So back to Daniel’s point that the suffering of individuals and even large groups does not matter to the self-proclaimed most “compassionate” of all people.  You see this when they attack cancer victims for complaining about losing the health insurance they like, for losing the long-term doctors they trust.  You see this when they dismiss more than 5 million people losing their health insurance as a “small percentage” of the “market.”  We’re not a “market,” we’re actual people, and the inability to grasp that in the here and now is what really distinguishes regressives.  They aren’t interested in the here and now.  They are only interested in that magical future they march in blinkered lockstep toward.

This is why they are totally comfortable trampling the rights of individuals and groups in the present.  It’s all for “The Greater Good” and that distant future they envision.  So a few thousand or even hundred thousand cancer victims die today . . . well, they were really just a drain on society anyway, right?  They can’t contribute to the brave, new world.

Remember when the Occupiers were calling for the overthrow of the government, a return to “nature”?  And remember how they dismissed the fact that millions of people can’t (physically or mentally) live the lifestyle they want?  One interviewee (I think it was in a Breitbart piece, but extra points to anyone who can find it) actually evoked Darwin in stating, with a dismissive shrug, that though it’s “mean” to say, some people have to die to fulfill the leftist mission.  Incredible.  Or not really at all incredible when you understand that the radicals running America into the ground have no compassion for anyone living in the present, their entire purpose is focused on an unrealistic, unachievable future replete with rainbows, sunny skies, and Skittles-pooping unicorns.

Stand in their way and prepare to be trampled under a herd of cloven-hoofed unicorns and to have your trampling cheered by the “compassionate” left.

A Leaderless America? Not So Much

If one more person tells me some variation of “there is no leader in the WH,” my head may explode. Of course there is.  This idea that Obama is somehow removed from, above, or not up to his scrawny neck in what his administration is doing must be dispelled. Now, do I think he’s the brains behind the operation?  No way, I don’t think he’s that bright, but I do think he’s surrounded himself with people who have plenty of brains and plenty of nefarious, traitorous plans.  I also believe that he’s well-aware of and ideologically happy with every single thing that has led to the myriad scandals that stink up our White House.  Do I think that he gets his hands dirty (beyond going out and spreading vile lies, doubts, and suspicion of the TEA Party and conservatives more generally), that some “smoking gun” will be found tying him directly to the IRS, DOJ, AP, Rosen, NSA, or any other scandal we currently know about or ones that may yet be revealed?  Nope.

But it’s his Chicago stench that permeates every single scandal, up to and including Benghazi.  The bullying, the thuggery, the blackmail, the boot on the neck, the manipulation of events for a specific end . . . all of it is straight out of Chicago, specifically, and leftist “thought” more broadly.

It’s no mistake that his czars and other appointments are a rag-tag assortment of dirty dealers, traitors, commies, anti-Semites, radicals, and fascist zealots.  Those people didn’t just materialize around him; remember, he sought out this type of person all the way back in college.  That never ended, as we can see all too clearly.

What kind of a person appoints the freaks and fringe fanatics that Obama has?  Remember his TSA nominee who stated that white supremacists and “Christian identity groups” were America’s “biggest threat”?  That’s what Obama believes with all his tiny, shriveled evil little heart. Hell, his DHS said as much in their memo to all of America’s law enforcement in 2009.

Last week, Obama announced the war on terror over; for him, it is.  Indeed, it was never really about Islamic terror for him; he happily supports both in word and deed (and with our money) all sorts of Islamic terrorism and terrorist groups.  Hell, he calls various Islamofascist groups his “peace partners.”  That he’s droned a bunch of them doesn’t change that fact.  And it’s right in line with Obama, anyway, he’s famous for sacrificing friends, family, leftists, whomever for “the cause.”   But Islamic terror isn’t his focus, what he does has been a means to an end–his support for the Arab Spring wasn’t an accident, nor was he unaware that Islamofascist states would emerge (everyone was saying so from Glenn Beck to John Bolton).  Neither were any of Obama’s moves an accident from basically encouraging Iran to nuke up to removing the missile defenses in Poland.

We may not be able to connect the dots yet, but it’s becoming pretty clear that it’s all of one piece, including what he’s been doing right here in America.  To Obama, the nation’s real enemies, his real enemies, are people who “want to make America a better place to live,” people who support the 10th Amendment, people who are pro-life, Christian, Jewish, white, patriots.  He’s made this crystal clear since practically Day One with every appointment, every czar, every policy, every word.

Back in September of ’09, I wrote:

[Van] Jones is a racist, a self-proclaimed communist, a “truther,” and a proponent of destroying the American system and replacing it with a . . . well, with another one that favors people of color and subjugates whites.  I’m not making this up.  Van Jones has said it.  All of it.  He talks of white people purposely poisoning minorities with pesticides, he signed a document demanding investigation into our government’s role in either allowing or actually perpetrating the 9/11 attacks on this country, he’s spoken of using the green movement to install minorities in key positions of power and remaking the system to favor them, and he’s called republicans assholes.  Well, okay, that last one doesn’t matter; we’ve all said worse about our political adversaries at one time or another.  But the other points, they matter.  Each of them alone should exclude him from the president’s inner circle, and together, they paint a picture of a dangerous, racist, anti-American communist who should not be allowed to enter the White House gift shop let alone sit in the Oval Office and snuggle with the president.

. . . . .

You have to wonder, if you’ve got a brain in your head, what is going on with the other BO czars.  Who are they and what are they hiding?  What is BO’s agenda in having such radical and controversial figures surrounding him, advising him, making policy for all of us and doing so well outside the checks and balances set up by the Constitution?

Well, there’s John Holdren, BO’s Science Czar, who has a neato idea to control population.  Apparently, he’s a big fan of China’s forced abortion policy and even advocated putting sterilization drugs in America’s food and water supply.  He’s also said that forced abortions “could be sustained under the current Constitution.”  Um, okay, but don’t you think that’s a bit much?  And this man is in key policy position, unchecked by Congress or anyone else, advising the president of the United States.  He’s not in some think tank or university espousing crazy theories and philosophizing, he is actually helping shape American policy.  This is the problem, not his wacked out ideas.

Holdren apologists point out, correctly, that Holdren preferred “milder methods” of population control.  Um, okay, so what happens if the people don’t line up for population control abortions of their own free will?  Do you honestly think that if the government controls the healthcare system and Holdren or BO decide that “population growth” is a threat to either the environment or the economy/healthcare system that they won’t start limiting the number of children people can have, forcing abortion on those who’ve maxed their “quota”?  This sounds crazy, but what the hell is someone with crazy ideas like this doing in the White House if not to put those ideas in motion?  Again, the apologists say that these ideas were expressed in the 1970′s and as such are “dated” and not relevant today.  Another apologist angle is that the book presents a “theory” and does not recommend a “practice.”  Well, so did The Communist Manifesto.  Remember that nifty little book?

Another fun BO czar is Mark Lloyd, BO’s Diversity Czar.  He’s a fun guy who thinks that Chavez’s coup in Venezuela was beautifully accomplished and that his control of use of the media should be emulated here in the U. S.  God forbid the people have access to anything that might be anti-BO.  I wonder how much he had to do with the “flag the fishy” campaign?  Anyway, he finds free speech rather pesky especially from the conservatives, having the unfortunate effect of allowing people to express their dissent.  The best place to stop free speech, according to this lovely man, is by forcing right wing radio off the air with 100% taxes on their operating costs; once that pushes them off the airwaves, their license will be handed over to a (liberal or progressive) minority group (this is where the “diversity” thing comes into play, I guess, you know making sure that all talk radio leans left.  Lots of diversity there.).  I never listen to talk radio, but apparently, there are far right discussions taking place on those stations.  So what?  If you don’t like it, don’t listen.  The people who are listening are obviously of the same mind, so shutting them down won’t do anything about changing ideology, it’ll simply drive people to the internet (if BO doesn’t declare an “emergency” and shut it down, anyway) or to Fox News (which I do watch).  At least until they figure out a way to push Fox off the air.  Again, though, not being able to see or hear views with which you agree does not change your own views, so I find this rather silly.  And frightening.

And let’s not forget Michael Copps at the FCC and “net neutrality”:

And there it is, the admission.  There is a narrow window of time, while BO is still prancing around the WH playing grown up, to force through his radical agenda, an agenda that apparently includes regulating (or whatever you call “filtering and funneling” the right information to the American public) the internet, ensuring that information (the correct information, Herr Copps) reaches the masses in the correct manner and correct measure.  Can’t rely on “flag the fishy“campaigns forever, now can we?  And note, too, that like all good progessives, Copps understands that they may need to settle for a “down payment” (aka “a starter home“) on the publicly-funded, government-run propaganda machine of the (not so distant) future.

Part of what we’ve seen develop over the past few weeks is the Obama camp’s purposeful promotion of the image of a detached, disinterested, ditzy dimwit so that we will all blame someone, anyone other than Obama himself.  I’ve bought into it myself, so I understand where people are coming from, but if nothing else has become clear over the course of the past several months, it’s that Obama is central to what is going on in terms of discriminating against conservatives, Christians, veterans, and pretty much everyone who disagrees with him on any point.  Might he be a puppet?  Sure.  That’s even likely, but it does not exculpate him.  He is not an innocent victim here.

The innocent victims are we, the people and our Constitutional Republic.  People keep thinking that he’s incompetent, a failed leader, but that’s true only if his goal is to support America, keep her and her people safe, to protect and defend her Constitution.  Because, yes, a thousand times, yes, he’s totally incompetent at that.

But here’s the secret: he’s not applying himself to those goals.  He never has and he never will.

Listen again to the great and fearless Andrew Breitbart:

If I Wanted America To Succeed

The amazingly powerful “If I wanted America to fail” video by Free Market America is going viral with good reason:

(btw, their Twitter account has been reinstated, you can follow them @FreeMarket_US)

This video nails the destructive impact of the “environmental agenda,” showing quite plainly that the “environmental agenda” is about power, control, money . . . and ultimately failure, and it got me thinking about another agenda that shares the same goal.

In 1958, Cleon Skousen, a conservative, wrote The Naked Communist in which he laid out what he perceived at the time to be the 45 commie goals and methods for destroying America:

  1. U.S. acceptance of coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war.
  2. U.S. willingness to capitulate in preference to engaging in atomic war.
  3. Develop the illusion that total disarmament by the United States would be a demonstration of moral strength.
  4. Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war.
  5. Extension of long-term loans to Russia and Soviet satellites.
  6. Provide American aid to all nations regardless of Communist domination.
  7. Grant recognition of Red China. Admission of Red China to the U.N.
  8. Set up East and West Germany as separate states in spite of Khrushchev’s promise in 1955 to settle the German question by free elections under supervision of the U.N.
  9. Prolong the conferences to ban atomic tests because the United States has agreed to suspend tests as long as negotiations are in progress.
  10. Allow all Soviet satellites individual representation in the U.N.
  11. Promote the U.N. as the only hope for mankind. If its charter is rewritten, demand that it be set up as a one-world government with its own independent armed forces.
  12. Resist any attempt to outlaw the Communist Party.
  13. Do away with all loyalty oaths.
  14. Continue giving Russia access to the U.S. Patent Office.
  15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.
  16. Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights.
  17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers’ associations. Put the party line in textbooks.
  18. Gain control of all student newspapers.
  19. Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack.
  20. Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policymaking positions.
  21. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures.
  22. Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to “eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms.”
  23. Control art critics and directors of art museums.
  24. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them “censorship” and a violation of free speech and free press.
  25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.
  26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as “normal, natural, healthy.”
  27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with “social” religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a “religious crutch.”
  28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of “separation of church and state.”
  29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.
  30. Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the “common man.”
  31. Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of the “big picture.” Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over.
  32. Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture—education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.
  33. Eliminate all laws or procedures which interfere with the operation of the Communist apparatus.
  34. Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities.
  35. Discredit and eventually dismantle the FBI.
  36. Infiltrate and gain control of more unions.
  37. Infiltrate and gain control of big business.
  38. Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies. Treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrists can understand or treat.
  39. Dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those who oppose Communist goals.
  40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity, masturbation and easy divorce.
  41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.
  42. Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special-interest groups should rise up and use “united force” to solve economic, political or social problems.
  43. Overthrow all colonial governments before native populations are ready for self-government.
  44. Internationalize the Panama Canal.
  45. Repeal the Connally reservation so the United States cannot prevent the World Court from seizing jurisdiction over domestic problems. Give the World Court jurisdiction over nations and individuals alike.

From “coexist” bumper stickers to the systematic destruction of Judeo-Christian values to the abject failure of our public school systems, many of these goals have been either met or exceeded.

What do we do if we want America to succeed?  We undo it. Starting where we live and work, where we have influence and power.  Andrew Breitbart was right; we’re in a culture war, and we’ve been losing.  It’s time to fight back, to take back our schools, our churches, our courts, our children, our society, and our culture.

So what would a Patriot’s Plan for America look like?  Maybe something like this:

  1. Foster, protect, and defend U. S. sovereignty.
  2. Dismantle the illusion that total disarmament by the U. S. would demonstrate moral strength.
  3. Get out of and stop funding the U. N. and cut all aid to enemies of the United States.
  4. Reinstate loyalty oaths.
  5. Capture one or both parties in the U. S., support and elect Constitutional conservatives.
  6. Use technical decisions of the courts to strengthen basic American institutions by claiming that their activities promote individual liberty.
  7. Get control of the schools. Use them as, our Founders intended, to transmit Judeo-Christian values and American patriotism. Make schools focus on teaching our children to think, on teaching them American history, civics, government, and everything intellectual that has been removed in favor of the emotional (i.e. anti-intellectual) communist party line.
  8. Gain control of all student newspapers.
  9. Use students . . . no, scratch that. Patriots don’t “use” kids and don’t need useful idiots.
  10. Infiltrate the press; better yet, just put the dinosaur media out of business with strong, old-fashioned journalism in the new media.
  11. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures.  Until then, refuse to support leftists in these forums (put our money where our heart is).
  12. Reinforce American culture in all artistic forms; put meaning, beauty,  and patriotism back into art.
  13. Reinstate standards of decency.
  14. Rebuild cultural standards of morality by eliminating offensive and immoral representations from the media, at least that which we consume (i.e. put our money where our heart and soul are).
  15. Re-present degeneracy and promiscuity as . . . well, degenerate and promiscuous.
  16. There is no such thing as a “social” religion.  Take our churches back; emphasize that intellectual maturity is understanding that religion is not a “crutch” but a means of true freedom, particularly from the state.
  17. Reinstate prayer and all phases of religious expression in schools on the grounds that failure to do so is a violation of the First Amendment.  The state cannot suppress our freedom of religious expression.  Anywhere.
  18. Hold up the American Constitution as the best model for the limited government of a free people.  Point out that it is indeed both a “document of negative liberties” (i.e. it restrains the federal government) and a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis . . . by design.
  19. Teach the truth about the Founders.
  20. Celebrate all forms of American culture, particularly self-reliance and patriotism, and encourage the teaching of American history and American exceptionalism.
  21. Dismantle centralized control over all aspects of American life not spelled out in the Constitution.
  22. Eliminate all public unions, make private unions let members choose whether or not to belong (right to work).
  23. Discredit the belief that criminals and all of the “groups” leftists create are all victims; discredit the entire “victim mentality” that permeates our society, emphasize equal opportunity, equal justice.
  24. Reinstate the family as a core American institution. Discourage promiscuity, easy divorce, easy abortion-as-birth-control, etc.
  25. Emphasize the parents in all decisions regarding their children, minimize the role of the state in all family matters (that are not criminal).
  26. Emphasize that violence and insurrection are not legitimate aspects of the American tradition, that we solve our political disputes in a civilized, nonviolent manner at the voting booth.  Ridicule the idea that violent revolution is a positive or that it has ever led to anything but tyranny, excepting the one prime example of our own unique founding.

Duped Dupes Being Duped

While immensely enjoying myself playing the latest BO-sponsored hashtag game on Twitter, I noted that there are a lot of liberals and leftists who just don’t see how they’re being played.  As one of them would manage to tweet something supportive of the 0Care monstrosity to the hijacked-by-conservatives hashtag, I’d shake my head, snort with laughter, or roll my eyes.  It’s really unbelievable how these people think (yes, I’m being generous here; it’s not really thinking so much as mindlessly repeating the lies they’ve been told).

We Are Not A Christian Nation . . . Unless It’s In BO’s Political Interests To Say We Are

A couple of stoic lefties braved the conservative onslaught with little tidbits about how they can’t believe that anyone can call themselves a Christian and not support 0Care.  This one makes me giggle every time.  It’s not only illogical and insane (but, yes, Virginia, the Bible really does say that God wants the government to save your soul.  Um, sure.), but it’s classic BO (I really do think of him as “zero” or “0” these days).

When he’s not attacking and lying about America’s Judeo-Christian foundations (remember “We are not a Christian nation“?), he’s mocking Christianity and trampling on the religious freedoms of Catholics (and soon everyone else’s religious freedoms as well, make no mistake).  Not only did he sit, for 20 years, and listen to Reverend Wright shriek “G-damn America!” and spew bile after 9/11 about “America’s chickens coming home to roost,” but he’s made it clear that the unfettered free rein his administration gives to the occupy loons does not extend to Christian pastors praying outside the White House (he has them arrested).

The attack on freedom of religious conscience has nothing, of course, to do with either contraception or gay marriage, these are merely vehicles for his “fundamental transformation” and for his desire, as his wife stated in 2009, to “change our conversation, … our traditions, our history.” But it does show us, quite clearly, why he (repeatedly) leaves out the “endowed by their Creator” part of The Declaration of Independence. Like all communists and wannabe dictators, BO believes that the government is the source of all rights, so it makes sense that he would omit that pesky business about our Creator endowing us with certain inalienable rights.  If God grants them, he can’t take them away.

So he has a history of ridiculing we “bitter clingers” (who cling out of bitterness to our Bibles/religion or guns, according to that horror show in the White House), our God, our religion, our fundamental rights.

Except when it seems convenient to use his twisted understanding of Christianity to his own ends.  Remember in 2009 when this administration “reached out” to religious leaders in an effort to get them to support that 0Care nightmare . . . in the pulpit (it’s okay to propagandize from the pulpit, of course, but it’s not okay to say anything negative about this regime)?  Remember all that “being neighborly,” “who we are as a people” (according to him, not a people of Judeo-Christian values, though), and “the right thing to do” stuff?  (How can you not, the same speech was recycled constantly throughout ’09 and into 2010 to combat the “messaging problem” the WH stupidly thinks is responsible for the majority of Americans wanting 0Care repealed.)

My very favorite BO quoting the Bible happened in 2009, as well, when he said that anyone who didn’t like 0Care was, and I’m not kidding here, “bearing false witness.”  Not enough to get religious leaders to sermonize on the wonders of 0Care to these nonbeliever heathens? Nope, so his administration organized a “prayer vigil” for 0Care outside the Supreme Court (you can’t make this stuff up); obviously these prayers are acceptable to Teh Won, so these religious leaders won’t be arrested (it starts today and lasts–you guessed it–three days).

So to sum up, according to BO, America is not a Christian nation, the Bible is just as flawed as the Constitution, and the government, not God, gives us our rights.  At the same exact time, America is a Christian nation that must be appealed to on Biblical principles of “being our brother’s keeper.”  Insane?  Cynical?  Downright blasphemous?  You bet.  And how do the duped dupes on the far left rationalize all this contradiction?  Simple.  They don’t.  They don’t think about it.  At all, apparently.

Corporations Aren’t People, But Big Government Is

One of the favorite leftist memes is that “corporations aren’t people.”  Okay, that point may be arguable, but the strange thing is that they actually believe the massive government we have is, somehow, “people.”  I’ve been trying to wrap my mind around that one, and I really can’t come up with anything that makes sense.  Corporations are greedy, evil, and they lack compassion and good will.  How a not-people can have and/or lack these human characteristics, I have no idea, but that’s what they think.

But then, they look at big government as some sort of benevolent nanny who just needs more power, more of our money, more control to be truly compassionate.  That this has never turned out well in the history of tyrannical totalitarian governments seems to escape them.  It’s bizarre, but the fact that you are a statistic, a nameless, faceless, numbered subject of the government is somehow preferable to being a free citizen in a free market.  Go figure.

Race Isn’t About Race, It’s About Privilege . . . Unless You’re Black and Leftist.  Or Something.

Hispanic is the new white thanks to the box the far left painted itself into when attacking George Zimmerman’s shooting of Trayvon Martin as a “racist” act.  This was when they’d initially jumped to the conclusion that he was white.  He’s not.  Ooops.

But hey, that’s okay, the crazies who brought us “man-made disasters” (terrorist attacks) and “overseas contingency operations” (war) have now come up with a plan: race isn’t actually race, race is really privilege.  Except when it’s not.  With this little gem of illogic, they can cover all their pet bases: if you disagree with BO, it’s because you’re racist; if you disagree with BO and happen to also be black or another minority, you’re a racist, too!  In this (actually quite hilarious circular lunacy) BO is not, despite being exceedingly privileged, now “white”–he’s still black.  If you are in the middle or working classes (having a job is “privilege”) or say, an Hispanic the left thought was white, then you are actually white, even if you’re not (disagreeing with or in any way blowing the leftist narrative automatically makes you “racist” and now “white” via the “privilege” idiocy).

Bizarre squared.

The Word “Hate” (Also) Doesn’t Mean What You Think It Means

We saw the venom spewed when Andrew Breitbart died, every time Dick Cheney has a health scare (or heart transplant), and every time something violent happens (such as the Arizona shooting and the more recent Florida shooting): leftists are filled to the very brim with the most putrid hatred imaginable.  They curse, they swear, they blame, they agitate violence, they make rape and death threats, they put bounties on people’s heads (including making Wanted Dead or Alive posters that were initially used to mock President Bush but now seem like a great idea. Somehow), they call for the murder of policemen . . . you name it, if it’s repellent and evil, the far left says and does it.  Publicly and with absolutely no self-reflection, filtering, or chagrin.  They’re proud to be irredeemably reprehensible and tell themselves it’s okay because they’re the “compassionate” ones.  Unreal.

Being a leftist means being totally exempt from their own phony standards (does anyone really buy all the faux “outrage” anymore?  I know I don’t.).  We know this, but what’s amazing to me is that they don’t even see it.  They somehow manage to justify calling for the murder of innocent people as . . . what?  I honestly don’t know.  It’s impossible for me to even begin to understand this warped mindset.  But it is one that is certainly shared with their Dear Leader, a man who makes enemies lists, attempts to shut down opposing viewpoints, and has a policy of “rewarding his friends and punishing his enemies.”

They’re being led by the Pied Piper of evil, and most of them love it, being rather evil themselves, they strut along proudly behind their false messiah (Mmm, mmm, mmm!) and support policies that not only blatantly destroy our country but that enslave the very people they claim to want to help.  However, there are those among them, or seemed to be in the Twitter game, who seem genuinely duped.  It’s these people we may be able to reach and shake from their slumber.

Culture #War: Take Up Your Keyboard

I earlier posted on Breitbarticus and Adrienne, but I wanted to expand on their point: we need to engage, in the trenches, with the far left.  As Andrew Breitbart and a host of conservative bloggers/warriors noted, we are at #War and need to fight back in the field of ideas. Luckily, we have plenty going for us in that regard as we actually have ideas, and these are based in logic, history, and reality . . . unlike our counterparts who rely on emotion–usually hate, but sometimes they mask it with “compassion” and “tolerance”–on utopian ideals that have repeatedly been proven wrong when applied in the real world, and on outright lies, mischaracterizations, and more lies.

I’ve had a teensy bit of experience venturing into unfriendly waters, and while I gave up on it, I am seriously rethinking giving such tremendous ground simply because it seemed like an uphill battle.  So not Breitbart of me.  But in those endeavors, I did notice that my posts were not dismissed by everyone, that there were people who were actually open to calm, reasoned arguments.  And that’s the key to waging successfully a counter-campaign on leftist sites: we have to remain calm, use logic, be reasonable, and never, ever stoop to their level (no matter how tempting it is).  I can’t say I never stooped, and maybe that’s why I ended up quitting, but I’m renewing my commitment to fight back and to do so outside my comfort zone.

The first time I ever did this was on Kos’s site; it was long ago, and I don’t even remember the post’s topic, but it had something to do with President Bush.  Or heck, maybe it didn’t, remember that to them, everything has to do with President Bush.  Anyway, the comment section was afire with crazy assertions about how stupid President Bush was, how uneducated, etc.  So I posted a brief note pointing out that President Bush was a Yale graduate who held an MBA from the Harvard Business School.

Now, it does help to understand a bit about leftists, and one thing they admire is the Ivies (this is why they keep hammering BO’s education, despite us knowing nothing about it beyond where he attended and the years he received degrees).  They are, at heart, horrible snobs.  And sure enough, a few commenters admitted they had no idea that President Bush was that educated, and one even emailed me to follow up on a question he asked (that I’d ignored, largely because my attention span on comment sections, even conservative ones, is somewhat limited).  We had a decent email exchange, and I’d like to believe that he understood what I was saying and why, even if he didn’t agree with me.

Things to Remember:  It’s not important that we get them to agree.  Our goal is simply to punch holes in their own theories, their own knee-jerk reactions.

Another exchange that I had was on Breitbart’s Big Government.  The article was one of the ones exposing the college course in Missouri on how to be a union thug.  Now, this wasn’t the typical spot one goes to engage leftists, obviously, but I did have a good exchange with someone who was defending the video evidence (at first with the usual, it’s been edited argument) and even union thuggery (he wasn’t on that ground, but in essence he was).  Anyway, that one also ended positively, with the commenter starting to question his own preconceived notions.

Things to Remember: While I did end up “friends” with that particular commenter, it’s not important that we make friends.  Our goal is simply to punch holes in their false construct of conservatives as redneck fundamentalists who want to kill grandma, destroy the planet, lynch nonwhites, and squash the American middle class.

I’ve posted quite a bit at FiredogLake, too, and often get reasonable responses, even “shock” a few times that I didn’t “sound like a rightwing nutjob.”  They’re frustrating over there, though, but if you’re up for it, there are some smart people there who are not locked into progressive lunacy to the point that they can’t see logic when it’s right in front of their faces.  Oftentimes, this means a stalemate, but it’s still good to bust that stereotype that we are all toothless rubes who can’t string a sentence together, quote poets and philosophers, or demonstrate critical thinking.

Things to Remember: It won’t always work.  But that should never stop us.

I think the most fulfilling commenting in defense of conservatism I’ve done was during the Scott Brown campaign.  For that, I commented on the Boston Globe website and a whole host of leftist local “newspaper” sites and quietly spent hours debunking the lies, rumors, and myths that were being fed and fueled on these sites (often, of course, by the hacks writing the articles).  I was particularly careful in these instances not to succumb to my natural snarkiness and not to meet condescension with (more and better) condescension, etc.  It wasn’t always easy, but the way I saw it, I was trying to make Brown look good, sounding like a shrill, mean-spirited nutter wasn’t going to do that (witness the off-putting craziness that Paulbots can’t seem to help; it reflects poorly on Paul, whether that’s fair or not).

Things to Remember:  It may not be fair, but anything we say in this effort can and will be used against the entire conservative movement.

So where do you go to combat leftist lunacy?  Leftist sites like HuffPo, Slate, Salon, Kos, Mother Jones, FiredogLake, and The Nation, but also don’t be afraid to take on the dinosaur media (Andrew Breitbart was right, they are the problem, its root, and to win, we have to pull them up by the root), so hit the NYT, Boston Globe, WaPo, and whatever local papers you know of.  And of course, the alphabet media hack sites are prime targets because oftentimes their readership is composed of independents and / or the uninformed, still-sleeping Americans, so hit CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, and even MSNBC.  In some ways, these latter are the more fulfilling sites to venture into because while they are the enemy, their readers aren’t of that mind-set and need only the barest information to understand, to wake up.

The key, as Adrienne notes, is to be calm and not to sink to their level (no matter how hard that is, they can’t hear what you scream at your computer monitor, but what you write is there forever and WILL be used against not just you, but all of us), to demand evidence of their accusations, to insist that they provide links and facts to back up their nonsense claims and incredibly shallow, ill-considered, and wrong-headed ideology (only, you know, without saying all that, heh).

And call in back up if you need it.  Other conservatives will be more than happy to go and take up our cause if you’re being piled on.
